About Department:

Department of Botany Govt.  Degree College Pampore came into existence with the introduction of science stream in the college in the year 2018.  The department is presently headed by Prof. Gh. Hassan Bhat as the 2nd  head of department. The department offers UG course in Botany and is affiliated to University of Kashmir, Srinagar. The fundamental mission of department Botany is to provide an intensive, progressive and balanced learning experience, to serve a student population that is highly diverse both in educational and ethnic background and in academic and career goals. Apart from usual syllabus, the department offers skill enhancement courses like medicinal botany, ethnobotany, seed technology. Department is yet to have a fully equipped laboratory (likely in times to come) with modern laboratory equipments to impart precision in practicals and to generate interest in students for carrying research in Botany discipline.

Course offered:

Bachelor’s Degree with Botany as one of the subjects. Courses taught include plant Biodiversity , Ecology, Taxonomy, Anatomy, Embryology, Physiology and Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology , Plant Pathology.

HOD’s Message:

The very definition of education signifies its importance in society and for achieving this goal to undertake any hardships. The present scenario of the world restrains us from achieving this goal because of COVID19 pandemic, but we have to continue with our mission through other available means. I as HOD think that  It shall be my endeavor to carry on the mission in spite of heavy odds. I  as  the head Department shall  nurture the students with multiple skill sets and  focus on outcome-based education by innovative pedagogy. Students are emphasized for good academics and participation of co-curricular.
