National Voters Day 2025

Report of  Pledge Ceremony and Online Quiz Competition held in observance of  National Voters’ Day, 2025.

The NSS Wing and Electoral Literacy Club of Govt. Degree College, Pampore, under the able leadership of Principal of the college Prof. Saffiya Khalil organized a series of activities on 25th January 2025 to mark the observance of National Voters’ Day, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of voting and empowering young voters. The objectives of the programme were to highlight the significance of voting for strengthening the democracy, instill awareness about the Indian Constitution and electoral rights among students, encourage active participation in the democratic process.

The programme began with the Voters’ Pledge Ceremony, where students, faculty members and staff gathered to reaffirm their commitment to uphold the democratic process. The participants pledged to exercise their right to vote responsibly and ethically, ensuring free, fair, and transparent elections. Prof. Saffiya Khalil, Principal of the college, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of electoral participation in strengthening democracy. She highlighted the role of youth as the driving force behind a vibrant electoral process and encouraged students to become responsible citizens.

 An online quiz competition on the theme “Indian Constitution and Electoral Rights” was also organized to engage students meaningfully and assess their knowledge of constitutional provisions, electoral laws, and procedures. The quiz covered topics such as the Preamble of the Constitution, Fundamental Rights, Duties of Citizens, the Election Commission of India, and various aspects of electoral reforms. A large number of students enthusiastically participated, with the quiz link shared through a dedicated WhatsApp group created for the event. To recognize their involvement, online participation certificates were issued to all participants.

At the conclusion of the quiz, a heartfelt thank-you message was shared on the WhatsApp group by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Kasira and Prof. Arifat Jan, Coordinator of the Electoral Literacy Club. They expressed their gratitude to all participants for their active and enthusiastic participation in the quiz.
